Simple Creative Gardening Techniques - A How-To Guide

When you have your own garden, there are many things you can do to make it more original and creative. Perhaps you are a gardener who likes his garden plotted in the traditional manner. That effect is very pleasing and certainly more than acceptable. However, it can also be fun to experiment a little and come up with a look that's all your own. The purpose of this report is to light a fire under your creativity by giving you some ideas on different techniques you can use.

It is hard to make a garden when there isn't enough room. One way to overcome the lack of space is to use a glass container or a terrarium to put your plants in. A herb garden is perfect for a terrarium, and this can be a very attractive indoor garden. When you do this type of garden, one advantage you have is not having to water the herbs that often, because moisture will be retained in an environment that is enclosed. You could use a large terrarium, such as an aquarium normally used for fish, or perhaps several smaller glass containers. You'd probably want to choose small herbs for this type of garden, as they will be easier to manage.

Birds are another way to "customize" your garden area. They are interesting and fun to watch. When you see a variety of birds flitting around in your garden, the atmosphere will be much more alive and colorful. You can attract birds in several different ways. Some aromatic fruit trees will not only make your garden smell nice in the spring when they bloom, but when the fruit ripens, birds will be attracted to the scent of the ripened fruit. You could go to your local garden store and buy one of those old-fashioned birdbaths and put it in the center of your garden. Even when it's empty, it will lend an decorative touch to the area. Remember those old-time birdhouses people used to have on a pole in their yards? If you put one up and keep it supplied with birdseed, you will attract a lot of birds. Your garden will obviously be more "alive" and interesting if it's filled with many different species of birds. You will enjoy watching them and listening to their songs.

You can also add fencing to your garden which will create a border which needs some creativity. The style of fence that you choose is up to you and your creative abilities. A variation of these materials can be used for your fence including railroad ties and rocks. You can use a hedge or shrubs to create a natural division of your garden from the surrounding landscape. A variety of fence material is available at the local store that you can use to create your garden fence. To be creative, add any type of fence that you like that enhances the appearance of the garden itself. Putting in a fence can be quite a chore, so if you do it yourself, plan accordingly in order to save time and money. You can be a creative gardener in many ways. Your garden doesn't have to look like every other garden in the neighborhood. If you need to use containers, make the type of container you use be imaginative. When you are creating your garden, you need to see it as a work of art that where you are expressing yourself.
